Rosaline Leid of Mt. craven, St. Patrick, passed away on Sunday, January 7, 2018 in NY at the age of 89
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving and devoted son: Carson Leid and his wife Cheryl, 3 grandchildren: Chereen (Brandon), Carson (Lorren) and Cassandra Leid; Great-grandchildren: D’Andre Leid, Brandon Smith, Jr. and Cameron Smith all of Maryland;
Her sisters: Lynn Leid of New York, and Letitia Noel of Middlesex, England; Many nephews and nieces including: Alister, Joy and Perry Garrett, Paul and Helen Leid of New York, Estelle Smith and Cindy Banfield of Grenada, Stella Bailey and Dawn Noel of London, England; Many grand-nieces and grand-nephews and a host of other relatives and friends.
Rosaline Leid was born in Mt. Craven, St. Patrick, Grenada to James and Cecilia Leid. She was the fourth of eight children. After her mom’s death, she helped her dad raise her younger siblings and cared for her dad until his passing. She also cared for her son, and several nephews and nieces raising them all as her own. She migrated to the United States in 1978 and resided with her son and his family in Maryland where she spent many years as caregiver to her grandchildren as well as to children of friends and neighbors. She moved to New York in 1991 to live with her older sister Lynn.
Her family was her most prized possession and greatest achievement. Her generosity and thoughtfulness to every one she knew or loved was limitless. She had a passion for sewing and for cooking and baking. She enjoyed entertaining, so much so that she was often preparing sumptuous meals for family and friends especially at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
She was preceded in death by her siblings Errol, Tom, Ada, Helen, Elaine, Worthy, Daisy, and George.
