Eunice’s approach was founded on “giving back”; she worked at Sunrise Senior Living in Burlington and the Sexual Assault & Violence Intervention Services of Halton (SAVIS). She selflessly gave to her community by volunteering at the Parent Child Centre Oakville, Intercede for the Rights of Domestic Workers, Caregivers and Newcomers in Toronto, Acclaim Health Tele-touch phone line, volunteered at Appleby College, and was a foster parent for Halton Children Aid Society.

Eunice was extremely passionate about music. She was a pianist & worship leader at Faith Baptist Church in Oakville. Eunice also taught piano in Grenada and Canada for over 30 years. She adored each piano student and appreciated the opportunity to pass on her gift. Something her father taught her – always pass on her students. Eunice was “paying it forward” before the phrase was even coined.

Eunice's greatest joy, however, was parenting her daughter Eboni. She enjoyed the quality time they were able to spend together right up until her final days. Over the years, they created many special memories together — memories that will sustain Eboni for years to come.

Eunice’s faith and commitment to health allowed her life journey to extend several years past the initial diagnosis of cancer. One of her favourite Bible verses was 1 Thessalonians 5:18, “In everything, give thanks…” Eunice would like to have her life and legacy to be known as “Eunice lived a life that was very thankful for the many blessings she experienced. She cherished her relationship with Jesus as she served God and others.”

A special thank you to the following physicians who were Eunice’s primary caregivers over the years: Dr. Kris Martiniuk, Dr. Conrad Sichler, Dr. Chris Mongiardi, Dr. Sanjay Pandeya & Dr. Jackie Colero ND.

Also thank you to the palliative care doctors at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital who graciously cared for Eunice in her last few months: Dr. Tarek Kazem, Dr. Greg Jeffries, Yolanda, all the outstanding nurses, and hospital staff. Extra special thanks to those who showed their care in so many ways during Eunice’s final days.

Finally, Eunice’s compassion, loyal friendship, infectious smile, gentleness, humble spirit and musical gifts will be missed by all who have interacted with her over the years.
