DAVID M. BAKER (Feb 5, 1947 – Mar. 15, 2022) of Gouyave and the UK

David lost his life tragically on March 15, 2022.

He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife,Yolande Lewis-Baker, Sons Robert and Richard; Grandchildren: Asia, Kiro, Kai, Rio and Siena.

Daughters-in-law:Paola and Michelle, Brother-in-law Dr Kenrick Lewis; sister-in-law Deanne Lewis; Nieces Kathy-Anne, Tammi, Fawne, Sky, Nevaeh, Madison;

Many cousins including:Earlise and Richard Lewis, Esther Lewis-Fraser, Mabel and Freddy Salfarlie, John Grant, Earl Lewis, Joy, Juanita and Joan Pascall, Denise Donaldson, Debra and Raymond Matthew.

He will be remembered with fondness by numerous friends in many countries, including Grenada. Among those in and from Gouyave are:Selwyn Mitchell, George Glean, Stephen Grant, Evans St. John, Clarence Small, Gladys Campbell-Simon, Norma Noel, Fitzgerald Joseph, Katelyn Mitchell, Donna and Carlton Frederick, Kaleisha Ashton, Veronica and Desmond Campbell, Carol and Fred Welsh, Karen Roden, Jason James, Irva Brown, Maria Welch, Gia Thomas and Agnes Mason. In St. George, Regan Nedd-Mendes and family, Anne-Marie Quarless, Alyssa, Hazel and Allan Bierzynski, Pat McIntyre, Paula Burke, Norma Isaac (in Canada), Father Dermott Nolan, Dixie-Ann Purcell, Carnice and Selby DaBreo, Joy Nicome, Jeanette Bain and many more on the island.

David was a British Civil Servant who worked as a Research Scientist in the UK Government's Aid Programme. His first overseas assignment as a young graduate was to Grenada, distilling nutmeg oil and lime oil at Dougaldston. His career allowed him the privilege to work and live in some 30 countries around the world...Paraguay, Brazil, Bolivia, Kenya,Malawi, Ghana and Vietnam, to name a few. However, Grenada remained his love and the town of Gouyave and its people especially, were very close to his heart.

The family of David extends heartfelt gratitude to all those in Grenada who offered their condolences. THANK YOU

The Family of David Matthew Baker celebrated his life on Sunday 17, July 2022, in his home village of Biddenden, Kent, England.

    Once again on behalf of the Small/Ferguson family of Edward Street, Gouyave, I extend sincere condolences to his wife Yolande and all the rest of the family.
