Shirlyn Ogiste Featured

Shirlyn Ogiste of Victoria, St. Mark,  passed away peacefully on Thursday March 16th 2023 at the age of 66.

She was born January 20th 1957 in Victoria, St. Marks Grenada as the first daughter of Maudlyn and the late Oneale Ogiste. In her early years, she studied at St. John’s Christian Secondary School (SJCSS) and later went on to take over her father’s successful cinema and lumber businesses. She later migrated to NY, USA in 1978 and had her two boys Darryl and Cody. Shirlyn enjoyed caring for others and would always put their needs above her own. In her time traveling between the states and Grenada she adopted and cared for many including her son Randy.

Shirlyn’s work ethic is unmatched. She worked for nearly 20 years at the prestigious NY Presbyterian Hospital of which her commitment and determination earned her many awards including being the recipient of multiple Employer of the Month accolades. Though she enjoyed her work, there was nothing more special to her than her family and the bond that we all share. She is the epitome of being all about her family. The most important aspect of life to her was caring for her family and showing her love towards each and every one of them. Sunday brunches, making bakes, bread and other gourmet selections was what she enjoyed the most. Her charismatic spirit, infectious laugh, and jokes on the veranda will thoroughly be missed. Her body has departed but her love will be felt throughout generations to come.
