Edwin DeBellotte of Gouyave who resided in New York and Florida, USA, transitioned peacefully on November 25th, 2015 at the age of 88
His work is done but never forgotten.
Mello and Elma DeBellotte were the proud parents of Edwin, when he was born on February 23, 1927. He grew up in Gouyave, St. John Parish, Grenada
As a young man, Edwin worked hard, went to school, and yearned to help his family in ways that were not available in Grenada. In 1953, he went to New York City where his many accomplishments led him to New York City Transit Authority. He started as a Porter, cleaning bathrooms, and retired as a Motorman driving the Authority’s passenger trains. All during this time he helped his siblings and family members, many achieved successful careers in the U.S., the U.K., and Grenada. He retired at 55 years of age and moved first to Palm Coast, FL and then Brandon, FL where he lived until his passing. Edwin (Eddie) enjoyed traveling and he spent the better part of his retired life doing just that.
He is survived by his wife, Verna; daughters: Yvonne, and Yvette; Stepchildren: Leslie, and Andrew, Grandchildren: Margaret, Brittany, Shelly, Gregory, Armando, Zain; great-grandchildren: Nicholas, and Nijil, great, great grandchild: Layla;
Brother of: Evans, Aaron, and Sarah in the USA, Desmond DeBellotte in England, Alister and Enice in Grenada, Several Nieces and Nephews including: Shany St. John and Fannella Benjamin, Several Grand Nieces and Nephews including: Corp. 458 Randy Hosten
Many other relatives and friends including: Ali DeBellotte and family of Belmont, the DeBellotte family of Gouyave Estate, Hosten family of Mt. Granby, friends and neighbours of Gouyave Estate and surrounding areas
Funeral Service on Tuesday 22nd December, 2015 at 2:00 pm at the St. Peters RC Church, Gouyave, St. John and Interment at the Dougladston Cemetery
