Carlos Michaelangelo “Busy” Thomas. was born to Michael and Evelyn Thomas in Gouyave, on June 17, 1951. He departed this life on December 5th, 2015.

 

A remembrance service on Saturday January 16th, 2016 at 6:30 pm  at St. Therese of Lisieux Catholic Church, 4402 Avenue D, Brooklyn NY 11203,  between  Troy & E 48th Streets

Funeral Services on Monday, December 14, 2015 at Noon at The Heritage Church on Southwest Parkway.

 

A memorial service honoring his life and achievements will be held at the Heritage Church on Sunday December 13th at 7:30 pm.  

 

He attended the Grenada Boys Secondary School. He subsequently served as the assistant coordinator of youth and sports, coach of Ball Wizard soccer club, teacher and coach at several secondary schools, and National Soccer Head Coach in Grenada. His attained his FIFA Referee’s Badge in 1991. He was active in community and political affairs and hosted a radio program geared towards youth opportunities.   After migrating to Texas in 1993, he earned both his bachelor’s and master’s degrees at Midwestern State University as well as his teacher certification. He was Student Government President as well as CSO President while at MSU as a non-traditional student. He worked as the director of the Boys and Girls Club in Wichita Falls. His last position was as a teacher and head soccer coach at Wichita Falls High School. He also served as a teacher and soccer coach at Corsicana High School and Haltom City High school. 

 

Carlos leaves to mourn, his wife of thirty years, Gillian Thomas, a nurse practitioner at Community Health Care Center; father of: Quilan and Carlan based in Wichita Falls; Roxanne in Canada; and Michelle and Marvin (wife Nicole) in New York. five grandchildren, Marvin Jr., Kyra; Cheyenne, Aaliyah; His siblings: Jean, Floris, Veron, Jillian, Dorcel, and Launey; In laws: Nathan and Leno Julien; Andy and Stella Julien in Texas; Jenny and Henrique in Canada; Psyche and Paul; and Junior in Grenada; His uncles: Stressman and Lio; Many nieces and nephews including: Odinga, Dixon and Jayvon; Ajani, Beverley, Shana, Chris and Tremaine in New York; Family friends: Karen, Irma, Jeff, and Joanna Humphrey in Grenada.

 

He was a loved member of the sports community in Grenada and the Caribbean students community in Wichita Falls, Texas. Many friends and former students, particularly the Gouyave community;

 

He was a national treasure in Grenada with lots of friends and family. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Jerome, Dale, Tessa, Eva and Ernest;
